Bennington, Vermont is home to the world’s tallest ladderback chair. There are bigger chairs out there: for instance the world’s tallest rocking chair in Franklin, Indiana is probably twice the size. This is still, nonetheless, a pretty impressive chair.
The first ladderback chair on this site was constructed in 1969 to advertise Haynes and Kane Furniture. After rotting away, it was removed in 2000. This one was built by La Flammes Furniture (who had bought out Haynes and Kane) in 2012.
By the time I visited, La Flammes had moved elsewhere in Bennington. So, instead of proudly standing in front of a furniture store, this chair now stands incongruous and alone in the middle of a traffic circle!
