I stopped by the Getty Station when I was in Chelsea last December. What a bizarre and incongruous treat. For a short time, this former gas station is being used “to bring outdoor exhibitions to a broad audience in the center of the High Line arts district.”
It was almost hidden from the road by tall bushes, I had to peep through dense foliage to see the gas-station-turned-grassy-knoll. In October there were plastic sheep too(1), but I prefer it without.
At some undetermined point in the future it will be “transformed to the premier collection of luxury residences near the High Line.” Of course it will.
